In this project we explored the question, “what do we mean by art?”
The children and young people learned about the different forms of art, focussing on black artists in the UK. Each week, the children had to research their selected artist and do a presentation to the group. one such artist was Stephen Wiltshire, whose magnificent drawing by memory enthralled the group. Each participant had the opportunity to create a piece of art using different media, which we hope to display in an exhibition in 2017.
There was even an opportunity to do the ‘Manikin challenge’.
As you can see from our gallery below, the talent that shone through was incredible and everyone had a chance to put their artistic hats on – even the volunteers!
